well i got my kh 602 set up it's freakin awsome,but got to thinkin about the afterburner and wanted some ideas if it puts more mids out or not? The 81 neck is cool but i like more mids.Should it be bought?

afterburner just makes it louder, doesn't give you more mids

kind of, yes, EMG has some other knob-things which change the sound of pickups.

Its a gain booster, really. Similar to the PA2 which is just a toggle switch, the AB is a push pull pot that you can activate by a motion of the switch and adjust up to 20db of additional gain. I was considering one but most people told me it just adds so much gain that your signal gets so screetchy and feedback is unbearable.

EMG's already have so much output I've never really seen the point myself.
some people just need it to go to 11.

I have one n my grynch and I find if you need jsut that little bit more gain that is controllable from the guitar it is excellent. It doesn't change mids or volume.

I think the EMG SPC is probably more what you're looking for. Thats what Jeff Hanneman has in his guitars, it kinda tweaks/boosts the mid frequencies...
